N에 와요
문형 해설
N에 와요
comes to (a place)
Says that someone is moving towards here. 에 marks the destination — where they end up. The polite form of 오다 is 와요 (오 + 아요 contracts to 와요). One of the first particles a beginner uses, and one of the easiest to confuse with 에서.
※에 is the destination, 에서 is the origin or the place an action happens. 집에 와요 = comes to the house; 집에서 와요 = comes from the house. Both are correct, and they mean opposite things.
- Place nouns take 에 directly, with no vowel/consonant split
- 회사에 와요 / 사무실에 와요
- Forms of 오다
- present 와요
- past 왔어요
- honorific 오세요
- Whether you use 오다 or 가다 depends on where the speaker stands
- towards me is 오다
- away from me is 가다
