The service is an online source of Korean grammar-pattern learning material: a daily study sheet, pattern and vocabulary pages, lesson audio, sentence breakdowns and weekly collections. The paid part is called the premium plan; in law it is a continuing-service contract, either recurring or one-time.

There are two levels of access:

• —Free. Every lesson can be read online and every pattern and vocabulary page is open. None of this requires an account. With a free account you can also do one round (10 cards) of Learn words with BRIK each day. In Expression Map Quest, Chapter 1 and the first level of every chapter are free to play with audio, and logged-in players earn card packs when they clear a level.
• —Premium. Everything above, plus the PDF of every lesson, sentence-by-sentence audio, sentence breakdowns, pattern and vocabulary drills, unlimited rounds of Learn words with BRIK, audio and card packs on every level of Expression Map Quest, and the weekly collection PDFs.

We produce the material ourselves and publish one issue a day. We may change the publishing time and how the material is arranged.

You can sign in with your email and a password, or with a Google account. Passwords are stored by our authentication provider as one-way hashes; we never see the password itself.

Keep your registration details accurate and your sign-in mailbox secure. Anything done through your account is treated as done by you.

If you are under 18, you need your legal guardian’s consent to use the paid features.

• —The premium plan is monthly or yearly. Whether it renews automatically depends on the payment method you choose, and both are stated clearly at checkout.
• —LINE Pay (New Taiwan dollars) is a one-time payment and does not auto-renew. You are buying a fixed period of access; when it ends, the account drops to the free plan automatically. We email you seven days and one day before it runs out. To carry on, buy again before it ends.
• —PayPal (US dollars) renews automatically. It renews and charges at the end of each period until you cancel.
• —The payment method depends on where you are. In Taiwan it is LINE Pay (LINE Biz Plus Taiwan, Taiwan company no. 24941093), priced in New Taiwan dollars; elsewhere it is PayPal (PayPal Pte. Ltd.), priced in US dollars with a recurring charge. We never store your full card number, whichever method you use.
• —PayPal does not handle transactions inside Taiwan. Under PayPal’s own policy, PayPal accounts opened in Taiwan and payment instruments issued in Taiwan cannot be used with our PayPal option; that option is for payment instruments issued outside Taiwan.
• —Price, tax and currency are as shown at checkout. We will email you at least 30 days before any price change, which then applies from your next billing period.
• —As required by Taiwanese law, we issue an electronic invoice (電子發票) once payment completes. Individual customers may store it on a member carrier or a common carrier approved by the Ministry of Finance (such as a mobile barcode). If you need an invoice showing a company tax number, enter your company’s tax number and invoice details at checkout. Once issued, contact us if a correction is needed.

Auto-renewing plans can be cancelled at any time. Cancelling does not cut you off immediately; access runs to the end of the period you have paid for. One-time plans never renew, so there is nothing to cancel. In both cases the account drops to the free plan when the period ends; your account and payment history are kept, and you can buy again whenever you like.

Refunds and the statutory right to withdraw from a distance contract are set out in the Refund Policy, which forms part of these terms.

The text, example sentences, dialogues, layout, brand name and marks in the service are owned by us or properly licensed to us.

While your premium plan is active, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the material for your own study.

Without our prior written consent, you may not:

• —reproduce, publicly transmit, distribute, rent or sell the material, PDFs or audio files to anyone else;
• —use the material to teach others, whether in a cram school, a school, or corporate training;
• —scrape the service in bulk by automated means, or work around access limits;
• —remove or alter the attribution on the material.

The fonts used in the service are licensed under the SIL Open Font License, and the lesson audio is generated by a text-to-speech service. These terms do not change those third-party licences.

PDFs you downloaded while on the premium plan stay on your device after it ends; we do not take them back. The restrictions in section 5 still apply to them.

We may suspend the service for maintenance, upgrades or events beyond our control, and will give notice where we can.

If you seriously breach these terms (for instance by distributing the material at scale), we may suspend or close your account. We are not obliged to refund in that case.

If we decide to shut the service down, we will announce it 30 days in advance and refund the unused part of your paid period pro rata.

The service provides language-learning material. It does not guarantee any particular result or that you will pass any examination.

The material is proofread, but errors can survive. Tell us if you find one and we will correct it as quickly as we can.

To the fullest extent the law allows, our liability for damages relating to the service is capped at the total fees you actually paid in the 12 months before the claim arose. This cap does not apply to damage caused by our intent or gross negligence.

We may revise these terms. For changes that materially affect your rights, we will give notice by email or on the site at least 30 days before they take effect.

If you do not accept a revision, cancel before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service afterwards counts as accepting the revised terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of China (Taiwan). Disputes arising from them are to be brought first before the Taiwan Taoyuan District Court. This does not affect consumer rights granted by the Consumer Protection Act.

• —Price. USD 4.95 a month, or USD 41.95 a year. You are billed in US dollars; yen figures are indicative and what you pay depends on your card issuer’s exchange rate.
• —Costs beyond the price. Your own internet charges, and any foreign transaction or conversion fee your card issuer charges.
• —Payment method and timing. PayPal, using a balance or a credit card. The first payment is taken when you complete the order; it renews on the same day of each period.
• —When the service starts. Immediately after payment.
• —Recommended environment. A current version of Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Edge. Playing audio needs an internet connection.

Term and renewal. One month, or one year, renewing automatically at the end of the term. Cancel any time from your account page; access runs to the end of the period you paid for.

Returns and refunds. This is intangible digital content, so we do not accept returns for a change of mind. System failures and double charges are handled as set out in the refund policy.
