REFUND POLICY
last updated 2026-09-01
01First things first: cancelling doesn’t cut you off
Cancelling does not end your access. The service runs to the end of the period you have paid for. After that the account drops to the free plan, where you can still read the last seven days of lessons and download the PDFs. Your account and payment history are kept, and you can subscribe again at any time.
Cancel from your account page, or write to brikkorean@pineryn.com. Nothing is charged after you cancel. A one-time LINE Pay plan never renews, so there is nothing to cancel — it simply ends when the period does.
02The seven-day right to withdraw, and the digital-content exception
Under article 19 of Taiwan’s Consumer Protection Act, a consumer in a distance contract may generally withdraw within seven days of receiving the goods or the service, without giving a reason and without cost.
However, under article 2 of the Executive Yuan’s Regulations on Reasonable Exceptions to the Right of Withdrawal in Distance Transactions, “digital content not supplied on a tangible medium, or an online service completed the moment it is supplied, provided with the consumer’s prior consent” is a reasonable exception, and the seven-day right does not apply.
This service is digital content not supplied on a tangible medium. At checkout you are asked plainly whether you agree that we may begin providing the service immediately, and confirm that you therefore waive the seven-day right to withdraw. You must tick that box yourself for the order to go through. Without it, we neither provide the service nor take payment.
If you did not give that consent, or we failed to obtain it as the law requires, you may still withdraw within seven days and ask for a full refund.
03When we refund
We refund in full or pro rata in the following cases:
- —The service was unusable because of us. If a failure on our side leaves you unable to use the paid features for three or more consecutive days during your subscription, we refund that interruption pro rata by day.
- —Duplicate or incorrect charges. We return the excess in full.
- —Unauthorised charges. Where verified, we refund in full and help you deal with your card issuer.
- —We shut the service down. We refund the unused part of your subscription pro rata by day.
04When we don’t refund
- —You gave the consent described in section 2, we began providing the service, and you then ask for a refund for personal reasons — not enough time to study, no longer needed, and so on.
- —The part of the subscription period you have already used.
- —Accounts closed for a serious breach of the Terms of Service.
- —PDFs already on your device and audio you have already played. These cannot be taken back, so they do not enter into the refund calculation.
Because of those limits, we keep a free plan that needs no account — the last seven days of lessons, fully readable and downloadable. Try it before you subscribe.
05Failed charges and the grace period
This section applies only to auto-renewing plans. If a renewal charge fails, we keep your access for a seven-day grace period and retry during it. One-time plans have no renewal charge: they end when the period ends, and no grace period applies. If the charge still fails when the grace period ends, the account drops to the free plan. Service already provided during the grace period is not refunded.
06How and when refunds arrive
- —Refunds normally go back to the original payment method (the original card).
- —We issue the refund instruction within five business days of agreeing to it. When it lands depends on your card issuer, and usually takes another few business days up to one billing cycle.
- —Where a refund is made, we void the invoice or issue an allowance certificate, as the law requires.
07How to ask, and what if you disagree
Write to brikkorean@pineryn.com with your sign-in email, the date of the charge and the amount. We reply within three days.
If you are unhappy with the outcome, you may complain to us under the Consumer Protection Act, to the consumer protection officer of your municipal or county (city) government, or to the Consumer Protection Committee of the Executive Yuan (consumer service line 1950).
