Even though it was raining, they came out to the station to meet me.

Even though the traffic was terrible, everyone arrived on time.
따지고 보면
when you think about it, ultimately
멀어 보이지만 따지고 보면 지하철로 삼십 분이에요.
It looks far, but when you work it out it’s thirty minutes on the subway.
그때는 짜증이 났는데 따지고 보면 제 실수였어요.
I was annoyed at the time, but when you think about it, it was my own mistake.
일상 회화
EVERYDAY
출퇴근 하소연 Complaining about the commute——Sua complains that commuting eats her day; Minjae sympathises and suggests travelling at a different hour. They’re close friends, speaking casually throughout.（수아＝Sua ／ 민재＝Minjae）
수아아, 진짜. 오늘도 지하철에서 사람들한테 밀려서 못 내릴 뻔했어.
Ugh, honestly. I nearly couldn’t get off the subway again today, I was so hemmed in.
민재출근길이 다 그렇지. 다들 급하니까 비켜 주지도 않고.
Rush hour’s like that everywhere. Everyone’s in a hurry, nobody moves aside.
수아매일 이동만 두 시간이야. 따지고 보면 하루의 십 분의 일이잖아.三
Two hours a day just getting there and back. When you work it out, that’s a tenth of the day.
민재그건 좀 심하다. 회사 근처로 옮길 생각은 없어?
That is a lot. Have you thought about moving nearer the office?
수아집값이 비싼데도 불구하고 알아보긴 했는데, 마땅한 데가 없더라고.二
Even though rents are high, I did look — there was nothing suitable.
민재그럼 시간대를 바꿔 보는 건? 나는 한 시간 일찍 나오니까 훨씬 편해.
What about shifting the hour, then? I leave an hour earlier and it’s far easier.
수아나 아침에 일찍 일어나는 걸 잘 못해서... 그게 제일 어려워.一
I’m not very good at getting up early… that’s the hard part.
민재며칠만 참고 따라가 보면 몸이 적응해. 한번 해 봐.
