A-다는 것은 N에서 알 수 있다

you can tell … from …

States a fact, then says what it is you are reading that fact off. The N in the second half is your evidence — usually a figure, a document, or something visible. Common in reports and analysis because it delivers the conclusion and the grounds for it in one sentence.

접속 conjugation

  • Adjectives take -다는 것은: 부족하다 → 부족하다는 것은
  • Verbs take -ㄴ/는다는 것은: 가다 → 간다는 것은 / 먹다 → 먹는다는 것은. Past tense is always -았/었다는 것은
  • The evidence can be marked with either N에서 or N(으)로: 보고서에서 / 이번 수치로

※Don't confuse it with -기 때문에. This pattern is not about the cause, it is about what you are reading the fact off. 매출이 줄었다는 것은 이번 분기 보고서에서 알 수 있습니다 — the report is how you know, not why sales fell.
