N입니다
is / are
Turns a noun into a formal statement of fact. Use it to introduce someone, identify an object, or announce something. It sits one step above the -이에요/예요 of everyday speech, so it belongs in presentations, written notices, and anything you say to a client.
접속 conjugation
- Attaches straight to the noun, whether or not it ends in a consonant: 학생 → 학생입니다 / 의사 → 의사입니다
- For a question, swap 다 for 까: 담당자입니다 → 담당자입니까?
- The negative is a different word: N이/가 아닙니다 — 학생이 아닙니다
