V-다 보니(까)

After doing … for a while, … (a result you arrive at)

Something changed or came to light because you kept at it. The point is that the result emerged from the doing, so the second clause is normally an accomplished fact.

접속 conjugation

  • Verb stem ＋ -다 보니(까): 걷다 → 걷다 보니까, 쓰다 → 쓰다 보니까
  • The second clause is an accomplished result, often with -았/었어요 or -게 되다: 하다 보니 익숙해졌어요
  • The 까 is optional and changes nothing: 하다 보니 = 하다 보니까

※-다 보니 is about what already happened; -다 보면 is a hypothetical future. Compare 「하다 보니 잘하게 됐어요」 (I got good at it) with 「하다 보면 잘하게 될 거예요」 (you'll get good at it). Swap them and the sentence means the opposite.
